M365 Software Architect - On-Site/ Public Trust

AET is seeking two M365 Software Architects to work for a Government client based out of Washington, D.C.

The Software Architecture provides senior technical leadership and architectural guidance for the IRS M365 enterprise. This role supports the Contractor’s responsibility to maintain a scalable, secure, and governed M365 environment, ensuring solutions are aligned with IRS architectural standards, Power Platform best practices, Dataverse optimization, SharePoint structures, OneDrive continuity, and multi-tool interoperability. Architects oversee technical designs, solution strategy, pilot planning, and PMO support across the entire M365 ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead architecture design and governance for Power Platform, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Exchange Online, Dataverse, and Copilot integrations.

  • Ensure compliance with IRS enterprise architecture, security standards, data retention requirements, and governance models.

  • Oversee environment setup, tenant configuration, solution frameworks, and performance optimization across M365.

  • Provide escalation-level support for IRWorks Priority 1–4 incidents requiring architectural review or system-level troubleshooting.

  • Develop reusable architectural patterns, solution roadmaps, and framework design documents for all M365 services.

  • Guide development teams on best practices for .NET, Power Platform development, data modeling, and Copilot/AI Builder usage.

  • Collaborate with PMO to plan, coordinate, and execute Proofs of Concept, pilot testing, and enterprise rollouts.

  • Provide expertise for Dataverse capacity planning, performance monitoring, resource consumption analysis, and model optimization.

  • Advise on OneDrive enterprise configuration, backup architecture, and cross-tenant integration approaches.

  • Deliver governance documents, system design artifacts, architecture decision records, and risk mitigation plans.

  • Support bi-weekly and monthly reporting by providing architecture-level insights on risks, system health, and roadmap deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Currently possess an Active Public Trust Clearance. 

  • 5+ years of senior-level experience architecting Microsoft 365 enterprise solutions.

  • Proven experience designing Power Platform environments, Dataverse models, and automation frameworks.

  • Strong understanding of .NET solution architecture and enterprise integration patterns.

  • Expert knowledge of Azure AD, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams.

  • Demonstrated experience working with Copilot, Power Platform AI components, and AI Builder.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex cross-platform issues across M365, SharePoint, Dataverse, and AvePoint.

  • Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement and technical leadership.



Compensation: $140,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
